We’ve all been there, having ideas with mates about doing something, how cool it would be and you’ll definitely get round to it. But you never really seem to? This was the case with Billy and Robbie – two good friends who both drive awesome Honda’s. I said let’s get some photos, we all got hyped about it and never got round to it. It’s not surprising. Billy’s DC5 ‘Moogz’ doesn’t see the light of day too often and Robbie’s EK9 has unfortunately been in pieces as of late because of an engine issue. Well on New Year’s Eve it clicked that we were all spending it together, Robbie needed to put some miles on the freshly rebuilt B16, and Billy was always going to be up for more photos of his pride and joy.
Finding a quiet spot in the New Forest wasn’t hard, I imagine the fact it was NYE meant most people were inside. That and the colour of the sky. Maybe we should have done the same, as what can only be described as a monsoon occurred half way through getting the photos. This forced Billy and Robbie to take a bit of shelter and me into one of Robbie’s coats – which with him being a little on the small side (no offence Rob) meant it was a little tight. But we muddled through. Both cars are of a decent spec.
Billy’s DC5 as you can see is draped in all genuine Mugen parts, no Fugen here. Including the mirror faced Mugen MF10 wheels, which I seem to remember him bragging about buying straight from Japan. Obviously because Robbie bought his genuine wheels from Moldova and myself from Northampton we’re not as ‘scene’. Well done mate.
Robbie’s EK9 has all the normal boxes ticked. It sounds good, looks good and handles even better with the Meister R adjustable suspension and AD08R tyres – I know I’ve driven it. The car normally runs it’s own set of MF10’s albeit in bronze, but they’d already been retired for winter. Hopefully in the future each of these cars will have their own features on the upcoming website. Until then, we were just three friends mucking about in the rain, having a laugh and taking pictures of our cars. Sometimes that’s all you really need.
